Step 1: collect raw screens
Capture the app states that prove your strongest claims. Do not start with the prettiest screens. Start with the most convincing screens.
Step 2: write the story
Create a simple sequence:
- Main value.
- Most important workflow.
- Differentiating feature.
- Trust or privacy point.
- Final supporting use case.
Step 3: design the system
Pick a small set of rules: type scale, device treatment, background style and spacing. A screenshot set should feel like one product surface.

Step 4: review at store size
Screenshots are rarely viewed at your design canvas size. Check them small, in order and next to competitor listings.
Then run a compliance review. Apple expects screenshots to show the app in use and permits explanatory overlays. Google requires the actual current app experience, JPEG or 24-bit PNG without alpha, and dimensions between 320 and 3840 px for standard screenshots.
Step 5: export and archive
Keep a source set and an export set. Name files by store, locale, device and sequence so future updates do not become archaeology.

After release, compare store conversion, search terms and user feedback. Improve one variable at a time so you can learn from the result.
Apple Product Page Optimization can test up to three treatments using alternate icons, screenshots and previews. Google Play store listing experiments serve the same general learning goal. Keep the hypothesis narrow: test the first-screen value proposition, sequence or visual treatment separately so the result is interpretable.
